Registry and contact forms

A sent form delivers the details entered in it:

  • Speaker form: name or alias, email, whether the ability came naturally or through practice, country, mother tongue(s), how you reverse words, optionally the age you noticed it and a free-text message.
  • Curious sign-up: name or alias, email, optionally a free-text message.
  • Researcher enquiry: name, email, institution and field, and a description of the planned study.

Purpose: to add you to the registry and contact you about it - and, only if ticked under "Studies and other speakers", about studies or to put you in touch with other speakers - to send practice material and news after a curious sign-up, or to answer a researcher's enquiry.

Legal basis: your consent, Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR. You give it with the checkbox in the form.

Who sees it: only the person running the registry. Details are never published, sold or passed on. If a study wants to reach registry members, the registry forwards the invitation; contact details stay with the registry.

Processor: the forms are delivered by email through Web3Forms (web3forms.com), which passes them on to the registry's inbox and does not keep them beyond delivery.

Retention: as long as you are in the registry or signed up for practice material, or until your enquiry is answered. Researcher enquiries are deleted 12 months after the last message at the latest.

Spam protection: a hidden field catches bots. No captcha service is used.

Voice and audio

No voice recordings are collected. Voice can be biometric data. Any future recording upload will only come with separate, explicit consent.

The reversal test

The test on the home page runs in your browser. It reads the words aloud with Google's translation voice: your browser requests the audio from Google (Google Ireland Ltd.), which receives your IP address. Your rounds are stored in your browser's local storage only and are never uploaded.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Vercel Inc., 440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA. Transfers to the USA are based on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, under which Vercel is certified. When you visit, the host processes technical data such as your IP address and the requested page in server logs to deliver the site and keep it secure (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).

Your rights

  • Access to the data held about you (Art. 15 GDPR)
  • Correction (Art. 16) and deletion (Art. 17)
  • Restriction of processing (Art. 18) and data portability (Art. 20)
  • Withdrawal of your consent at any time, with effect for the future (Art. 7 (3)): one email is enough
  • Complaint to a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77)
